DAILY DEVOTIONAL    SUNDAY FEBRUARY 3, 2002
(2 Thessalonians 3:3, 2 Timothy 1:12)

But the Lord is faithful; he will make you strong and guard you from satanic attacks of every kind.

That is why I am suffering here in jail and I am certainly not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to safely guard all that I have given him until the day of his return.

Super Sunday...and SUPER GRATEFUL. For those who have been reading this Devotional very long know, I have been a huge sports fan since I was a very little boy. I have enjoyed playing many sports competitively all of my life, and following all sports at all levels. This is the day that has become know in the United States, and in many places in the world, as Super Sunday. This evening in New Orleans, Louisiana, the St. Louis Rams will play the New England Patriots for the championship of the National Football League. This will be a special time for me as I enjoy what should be a great game, because of what happened last Wednesday.

There has been a very bad flu going around the greater Tampa Florida area where Liveprayer is located. Many of those who work at Liveprayer have been sick. Early last week, I wasn't feeling very well, and assumed that I was in the early phase of catching the flu. I had spent the better part of Monday evening fasting and praying over some special prayer requests. Tuesday, as I started to feel sick, I ate very little. Wednesday morning I started taking some strong cold medicine. Upon reflection, I think I took too much, and I had not eaten hardly anything over the past 72 hours. That is a very bad combination. Around noon, I had to run an errand. After I finished one stop and got into my car, I felt dizzy, a little nauseated, and wanted to get back to the office to lay down. I honestly can not remember very much of what happened after that over the next few hours.

I do remember calling my wife to come to the office to take me home. At some point, I passed out and hit my head on a filing cabinet in my office opening up a pretty good wound on my head. It was the lunch hour and there was nobody at the Liveprayer offices other than our prayer partner who was on the LIVE video feed in the studio. Because of the soundproofing, I don't believe he even knew I was in my office. When my wife arrived, she said that I was in my chair, my head was bleeding, and I was totally out of it. She cleaned the wound, took me home, and nursed me the rest of the night. I was able to come in for about 8 hours (instead of my normal 12 >:) ) Thursday, went home and spent the rest of the day in bed. To the glory of God, I woke up Friday morning feeling almost 100% again.

I share this with you today because as I reflect back on Wednesday, I realize that it was only the hand of God that prevented something terrible from happening to me. In the course of driving back to the office, I could have easily had an accident that could have injured or killed me and other people. The fall in my office could have been much worse. It could have taken me much longer to recover. But God had His hand on me, and He protected me! There is never a good answer why God allows something tragic to happen in our life, yet at other times steps in and puts His arms of protection around us. That is why we must treat each and every day as the special gift it is, and never take for granted how precious this life really is. ***WE NEVER KNOW WHEN OUR WORK HERE ON EARTH IS FINISHED AND GOD WILL CALL US HOME. WE MUST MAKE EACH DAY COUNT FOR THE KINGDOM!

I love you and care about you, your life, and all that you are facing even more than you know. I have spent many hours these past days thanking God for deciding that there was still more for me to do. Don't get me wrong, I am ready to be with Him whenever He says it is time to come home. I never forget for a second that my citizenship is not on this earth, it is in Heaven! If anything, this incident has made me even more clear on the fact that this journey here is a short one and we must take advantage of each day God gives us to serve Him.

It has also strengthened my resolve in two areas. First, how much I love and care for my wife. She is a gift from God that I am so thankful for. This journey would be terrible without her. Second, how committed I am to this work God has given me to do at Liveprayer. God is using this ministry as an incredible instrument to share the hope and love of Jesus Christ with over a million people worldwide each and every day. He has brought incredible friends like you into the life of this ministry to pray for me and to support the work here. YOU make all that we do each day possible. Liveprayer is only scratching the surface of its' potential outreach, and I pray that God will keep me around to see the day when we will bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to tens of millions worldwide who are lost and hurting and looking for answers in their life. Of course, only God knows what tomorrow will bring. Our job is to wake up each morning and be faithful to that day. That is the one thing that we do have control over. I promise you that I will do my best each day to share the hope of Christ with you, pray for you, and be here for you in your time of need. That is what God has called me to do. Because when this journey is over, the only reward any believer should want, is to hear our Father say, "well done, thou good and faithful servant"!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller
